300TE Gearbox HELP!

Hello everyone. I own a 1990 300TE and as of last night require a gearbox (250k mileage).

Before I proceed with an exchange unit, do any of you have any knowledge of whether I can fit a 4-speed unit in place of the existing 3-speed and if so at an additional cost?

3-speed 300TE

AFAIK all 300TE autos are 4-speed. The older cars don't start in 1st unless you shift the lever to 2 or nail the throttle so you may have been driving round in 2nd, 3rd & 4th all the time...
