308 engine issue

I have recently bought a 308 2.3 non-turbo lwb, one problem is that the engine will only rev to about 3500, its almost as if it has a limiter on it.So it drives ok round town but any hill it just dies and you have to drop it a cog or two.

Can anyone help?

Also need a decent drivers door and drivers front headlight?

I'm not sure about the rev range but the old 08 engine wass a gutless thing even in the 208 I had a while ago. Try to get a drive of another one to make sure you haven't overestimated its performance. Remember it's only got 80bhp.
