clk3202001,sl6002003 with everything regrettably sold ,A class 170cdi auto. NG/TF1800 ML250
Dealers are doing shed loads of them, no patten, 10.000 miles or 50.000 miles, they just start knocking!!
Do these have stop start? Is oil feed thru centre bearing ? Maybe front main last to see oil and many using thinnest oil grade ?

When I change the oil on mine I put half of the oil in through the filler cap and the other half goes in the oil filter casing , this is recommended on Jeep forum to do it this way.

Didn't know that.
What reason would be to suggest pouring 4litres from the filler and other 4litres through filter housing?
I can understand to suggest for example 1lt through filter housing but half the quantity?
Please advise

The oil filter canister /mount is at the top of the engine , therefore there is minimal oil pressure until the filter is full.
Here is a thread from a Jeep forum , bit of an argument going on during it but about half way through the reason for filling this way is explained.

You mention 4 litres x2 so your engine only uses 8 total ? , 642 in my Jeep takes 9.5 and Jeep now recommend to use 5/40 instead of the recommended 5/30

Thank you I will have a look into the link.

If not mistaken, oil pan has 8.5lt capacity and this is the recommended amount. At least in the w211/s211 with the om642.
I should have written before 4.5 and 4.0, my mistake.
