380 SE Idle - Idle Fluctuation

The idle on my 85 380SE seems to have a mind of its own.  It will be normal, around 1000 rpm, and then shoot up to 2000rpm - usually while driving.  Then it stays high for awhile, then shoots back down.  There is no specific temperature or situation at which this occurs.
