3ooCE 24v 5 speed gearbox

I have just got this gearbox reconditioned: works well but I seem to have lost the kickdown facility. It will, at low and high speeds, drop into the next gear when the pedal is depressed to include the kickdown button but it seems that short of pushing the button, I get the exact same effect. In other words, it will not drop into first. I do not use it often but it is handy for coming off the sliproad into the motorway lanes. Has anyone got any ideas?

did you have the 'box recon'd at a shop in the car? or was it a box out, take to shop job?

if the former - I'd go back and get them to check they have connected everything back up.
