40.000 Mile Service

Whilst having work carried out on my car I asked the dealer for the price of a major service, I think he quoted around £375 Inc however he did add it depends what was carried out on the minor service at 40.000 + miles. I checked my records to find a filter and oil! I had service plus at the time, should other items be listed?

What should have been replaced or looked at? The minor service was carried out at around 45.000 Miles 7 months ago--Major Service 39.000 Miles. We only cover approx 3.000 miles a year so my servicing is every 2 years

It you look through your service book, the items that need replacing are listed in the later pages

Your gearbox fluid should be changed 40-50k miles, and that will not be in the book

you may be due a coolant and brake fluid change too. Every 2 years I believe.

I have a C270 but it's the facelift, late 04 version, so may not have exactly the same servicing requirements. However it is on ServicePlus.

I've found that when I take it in I'm regaled with list of things that "need" doing - ATF change, coolant, wheel alignment, air conditioning "service" etc only to find that when I say the car is on ServicePlus the work evaporates.

Mandatory ATF change was brought in a few thousand VIN numbers after my car was built - so ServicePlus wouldn't cover it. On my car coolant is every 15 years.

Brake fluid is scheduled every 2 years - shouldn't be any argument about that.
