My problem is getting the car to shut off. I can turn off the ignition and actually walk away from the car and it's still running. The only clue I can find from the owner's manual says its the fuel cut-off solenoid - but it doesn't tell me where that is located on the engine or where I can find one. In the meantime, everytime I stop, I have to open the hood and push the "stop" button :eek:op s: Can anyone give some guidance?

Check the vacuum lines in the engine compartment and see if one is broken or disconnected. The engine shutoff is vacuum operated.

Does locking the doors shut off the engine?

Robby - thanks for writing back. Actually, the doors are not locking either. Do you think that indicates something more than the cut-off solenoid?

The central door locking system is vacuum operated as is the engine shutoff. You definitely have a vacuum problem somewhere in the system.

I had a defective vacuum control unit in the door post of my 123 - B pillar behind the driver - which controlled the locking of the two doors on the drivers side. Replacing it fixed the central locking system and my engine shutoff problem. When I shut the engine off, it kept on running. If I locked the drivers door, about 15 seconds later the engine would shut off.
