Any assistance on this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

I, for some reason have an oily substance appearing through the passenger footwell Carpet.

I have removed the offending item but could not find the source.

Is it serious?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Remove the lower dash panel on the passenger side under this is the pollen filter and it has been known to leak water through into the cabin as leaves and debris block the outer air intakes.
Post back and let us know what you find.

I note that the first poster mentioned oil and the response mentioned water.

I had/have a similar problem and didn't get to the bottom of it at the time.
It definitely seemed like oil and not water. The 'oil' seemed clear (ish) and light. The kind of charictaristics I would expect from hydraulic oil.
Before I took my car over it had roof hydraulic system problems so I put it down to a leak somewhere (cured prior to my ownership) eventually finding its way to the passenger footwell.

I'd be interested to know the outcome also.

Oil in the footwell

No, it was definitely a light oil of some description. There are a series of small bore plastic pipes (blue and green) running along the footwell, I wondered whether one connection could have come loose?

But I’ve no idea what they contain.
