Certainly not early 2010 as my sales book does not mention the plus so could be 2011

You mean in the UK Karl?

Your article says immediate availability in E class, though it talks of Germany.

Whoops, The US:

9G-TRONIC gearbox will make its debut in a U.S.-spec model on the 2015 CLS.
Mercedes-Benz introduced its nine-speed automatic transmission last week exclusively on the 2014 Euro-spec E350 BlueTec model. They said in the future the 9G-TRONIC will find its way on most of the company's models as it is compatible with both rear- and all-wheel drives. In addition, the transmission can also work with plug-in hybrid and hybrid systems.
U.S. buyers will have to wait until fall 2014 to get this gearbox when Mercedes-Benz will probably offer it for the CLS. This piece of news comes from a company insider who said the updated CLS will be available with this transmission "in at least one engine combination". The current CLS has a 7G-TRONIC transmission so the two additional gears will help reduce fuel consumption and cut CO2 emissions.

Did you get the software update for yours?

Mercedes knew the really early ones were a pig and sorted it out with an update, required a new Electronic plate depending on the build date.

Yep, several and I drove 59 reg cars which were terrible.

The new plus box came in just in time methinks

There must be a simpler way.

But then you get the left leg growing longer than the right one :(

i could do with a little extra height!!!!

Dual mass flywheels will kill these off sadly.

i have my doubts about this, especially as there are an increasing number fo conversion kits to revert back to standard flywheels, and also they are getting more reliable, i think. im hearing about fewer failures than i used to, at least!

I've heard about a few conversion kits from van owners and such like but they still seem a troublesome thing.

IIRC they were brought into to improve low speed refinement on 4pot cars.

I hope you are right, but an automatic car driver needn't worry about DMFs, just valvebodies etc
