Hi all newbie here, and a girl to boot, I dont know if this is in the right section so sorry if its not!

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to the cause of the problem i am having with my little merc.

Its an S reg A class classic 1.4 semi automatic, (ie gearstick but no clutch pedal). recently it has been cutting out if I change down a gear when the revs are to high, it then seems to sort itself out and goes again, after a while of going but not accelerating no matter how hard i put my foot down, until today. Every time I braked to a stop wether going down the gears or knocking it into neutral it cut out, just stopped. So kept having to restart the engine....... NOT GOOD

It seems to me that sometimes when it is idling the revs seem to low and so it just cuts out, but like I said Im a girl and so know zilch about motors!

Was just hoping someone could shed some light on what might be the problem and hazard a guess on wether im going to have to remortgage to get it fixed!

Thankies in advance!

Did you find a fix?

lexiedhb, sorry IO know it is an old post...

Did you have to fork out £700 for this fix to the issue - I am having the same one and not sure if it worth spending that money on a car that is worth not much more!!

I also have an S reg A class classic 1.4 semi automatic, (ie gearstick but no clutch pedal)

Thanks

same problem

Hi, I am having the same problem with my A class car (V reg), it's semiautomatic as well.

Did you manage to fix it?
Could any body help.
The fuel consumption is becoming much higher when this problem started.
the car cuts out when the car is hot.

Mine actually turned out to be something simple. A part of the fuel mechanism was gummed up! Cost about £60 to fix! Have sold the car now, as it had several more problems that were not so simple or cheap to fix!!!
