In order to order a new throttle housing for my A class, the garage wants the number off the exisitng throttle housing - rather than take it in can anybody advise where this number is located please?

Cheers

Any body know the best approach for handling a non-franchise dealer? we brought the car 2 months ago and within a week had found 6 defects - although the dealer is attempting to put things right, he is being VERY slow - over 2 months so far without resolution:

+ Booked it in to garage one - the guy said I can't assist with anything!
+ Called an auto electrician - couldn't find any faults!
+ Booked it in to garage two who found the EM fault - but turned out it was only booked in for the diagnosis and not the fault, this guy currently believes that he is only fixing the EM issues as he has not been advised to do the others

We are getting a bit p****d off now - know that the dealer is duty bound to fix these issues (SALES OF GOODS ACT) but don't know how to get him to speed up. Any ideas

Faults were:
- EM Light on (starts badly when cold - apparently this is the throttle housing)
- Internal light keeps coming on when driving - had to take the bulbs out
- Alarm goes off for no reason
- Breaks squeal after 10 minutes of driving (stop when depressed)
- Passenger door handle/lock sticks open
- Air flow inside the car is stuck on internal - causes the car to mist up badly, apparently the flap deep inside the dashboard is stuck. So far the only garage response to this has been, a deep intake of breath and "the dashboard has got to come out for that"

You engine running problem is probably air flow meter. This is joined to and part of, the engine control unit. There are places on this forum that can repair them but you will have to do a search. Your alarm and interior light are the same fault - probably a door switch. Open all windows. Start car. Make sure light will come on if door is open. Close all doors with engine running. Pull on each door in turn and see if the interior light comes on, dont forget the boot. This will tell you what door switch is faulty, it may just need the door adjusting in a bit. This could also be linked to your door handle problem.
