Jimbo or Tony (Smart AMG) just a quick question.

Where about’s
did you position Axel stands whilst undertaking the work on your callipers ?
Didn't use Axel stands, did one at a time, with trolley Jack.

I wouldn't recommend that option, trolley jack is fine for lifting but not for holding. I'd have an axle stand under the bottom wishbone (or in that general area where it could take the whole weight if the jack fails (and they do))

If you have a "bigger" floor jack , you can raise the car from the jack pad under the engine or the rear diff then axle stand in the normal side jack points .
Putting the wheel under the cars side will also get you out of trouble if the jack collapses .

I don’t have any axle stands but, I do have a couple of H/Duty (4ton I think) hydraulic jacks which do the same job. I use them and my 2-ton trolley jack. The jack gets positioned under the bottom arm where it joins the chassis. I usually do one at a time.

I usually do this to as a “just in case” measure.
Better safe than sorry.

Looks very nice indeed, but thinking about it, why not change your alloys to a design where you can't see the brakes at all?

You've locked yourself into years of ultra-fiddly detailing now!

I enjoy the end result of the "ultra-fiddly detailing", plus there is a tremendous satisfaction gained doing something very few people have the patience for and as Wighty said "£10 for some paint against £400+ for alloys" hmm the tenner looks good to me. :D

I like my alloys too! :)
