A sense of sense of deja vu, baffles in petrol tank now gone.

Hello all,
My R230 started the dreaded clanking sound soon after it came out of its winter hibernation this year. After exploring a few options (including having the stereo on very loud!), I got in touch with Bassie (through eBay) and got him to work his magic on my car this morning. I took advantage of the long drive from Edinburgh to the Brighton area I had already planned to go to a wedding and went to his place to have the work done. A really nice guy and all completed inside an hour, with a written receipt and warranty. No more clanking and no fuel vapours. He is (understandably) quite protective of his method and although £400 is quite a lot of money, it’s considerably less than what the main dealer was looking for a replacement tank.
So far so good. I wonder what surprises this great car will throw at me next!

I know there are some nah sayers on here but I found the guy really pleasant and so far it's been fine, it's nice to know that someone else has had a similar experience with Bassie. Yes a new tank from the later model would have been utopia but I'm a reasonable person, most of the time, and wanted a cost effective solution.
Martin Traynor at Chiltern Motors who I bought the car from had contacted Star Motors regarding the cost of replacing it but he wasn't to know this problem would arise and he's in business to make money. As long as the problem was resolved I didn't want to kill any profit he may have had in the car. So when I saw this solution it seemed a good compromise and got back to Martin and this was the route we decided to go with.
Personally I have no problem in recommending either of them, at 59 years of age I haven't met a used car dealer better to deal with and Bassie was very professional as well, two top guys. :)
