a stupid question?

yesterday i changed the engine mounts on my ml270 which has eliminated the horrible vibrations and now drives lovely.Whilst doing this i noticed something being driven off alternator belt which i wasn't sure what it was.I didn't look into it too much as i was in a big rush to finish mounts before being kicked out of work.I'm fairly sure it wasn't the a/c compressor and didn't look like an alternator,p/a/s pump,idler or tensioner so what is it?It was quite a lump and as stood underneath facing rear it is bottom left.Probs the alternator or something,just wondered if anyone could answer to save me looking

The alternator is at the bottom on offside and ac compressor on nearside.

also you have the Aircon pump, power steering, water pump idlers

i assume it is the alternator then.It just didn't look like it!just saw it whilst working and just thought of it.

cheers television.It's not labelled but by means of elimination it's the alternator.
