Hi, I was driving home from work & noticed almost immediately I pulled off that the Preglow Dashboard illumination had remained on & solid (not flashing). I drove approx. 1 mile down the road, away from work & stopped the car. I restarted it & it remained illuminated. I revved the engine (in Park mode) & it topped out at 3000rpm. I then drove home (10 miles) & it remained illuminated for the whole journey.

Does anyone know what the cause of this may be? What should I do (apart from the obvious - take to a mechanic)?

Warranty expired in May (during Covid-19) pandemic so all service centres were / are closed.

Thanks,
Ricki

Your clutching at straws unless you have the car read for codes

Glowplug light on all the time means one or more have gone open circuit, you do need to read the codes though to find which one but also rule out that’s it’s not faulty wiring

A multimeter set to Ohms will also tell you which plug is goosed ;)

Good point, though last time I did a test on star it said number 3 was gone but checking the values I could see it was but also number two relay was on its way out

hi all, unfortunately i do not know what STAR is or how to test a glow plug to see if it is faulty??

I have however had a colleague at work plug his diagnostic tester into the car & the following fault came up:-

P0380
Glow Plug/Heater Circuit A

Does anyone know what this means??

He then reset this diagnostic code & re-run the test. No fault codes were now active & when ignition turned on, the glow plug warning light had gone out. He said to keep an eye on it for a bit to see what happens or if it occurs again.

Thanks,
Ricki

When I started the car this morning, the light came back on & stayed illuminated. My colleague says I need to check the glow plug circuit, connections, any fuses, relays etc.

Can anyone help with what I need in a bit more detail, where I can find what needs checking, which fuses etc?

Thanks

The light is telling you that one of the glow plugs has failed. Could also be the relay that's failed

Hi, can anyone advise on things to check at home with locations of equipment & what to test for. Just want to see if I can diagnose & rectify without the spend of taking it to a mechanic, MB or not!!

Thanks
Ricki
