I have a 2000 A190 Auto and have just had an EPS BAS light come on followed by Limp Home mode in gearox where it will not change gear and max is 30mph. Reported to MB Dealer and took car in. On way after 2 miles, gearbox started changing gear but still in limp mode but at least revs were reduced at 30mph. MB dealer tells me ths is gearbox control unit faulty and needs replaing at apporx £1400 .......I have heard that this EPS BAS light could be caused by faulty sensors in brake system and not gearbox. Any ideas or views?
