A207 auto transmission problem

Hi I own a 2012 e220 , a207, auto transmission, not sure if the transmission fluid is low as I can’t select gears using manual , also gear changes bit later than usual , can’t even see where to put Transmission fluid In , any ideas , also engine management light has come on during this

Any record of the fluid being changed? At 10yo it’s long overdue if it hasn’t.

If it is a 7speed box then the only way to fill is via the sump. The level is checked by allowing the filler tube to overflow. They get the box up-to temp and then pump a little more oil in and let it run back out until there is just a slight weep. But you need the pump, adapter and the right fluid - there are 2 different fluids and they are not compatible.

Thx for ur reply , Don’t think I’ve noticed if oil been changed on services, it’s nearly 8 yrs old , 7 speed box , I thought it might be the pump method , just hope it’s the fluid that’s causing the problem
