I had the car serviced in March and a few days later on my commute I got a warning about too much oil.

there is no dipstick so had to check using the assyst menu & it showed full Bars.

I made an appointment etc but on my commute home there was no message and the oil level remained full bars.

I never saw the message again and for various reasons I never had that appointment.

I checked the level again on my way home yesterday and it showed 3/4.

I’ll keep checking but is it normal for oil levels to drop in an amg?
increasing could mean water ingress which is fatal, decreasing could be equally as fatal.

whats other people’s experience?

My w203 had an electronic oil reading & dip stick while my s212 only had a dip stick , but this a238 w213 hasn't a dip stick.

With electronic dipsticks it’s quite common to get the overfill warning after a service. The oil expands when hot and sets the alarm off.
The fix is filling it slightly less and a software update.
I expect 1ltr per 1,000 miles will be “within tolerance” if you ask Mercedes - not that I’d be happy with that…
How old is the car, it could still be bedding in

Engines vary from car to car, even the same engine type. Yours is an inline 6 with electric boost. My AMG43 has a V6 and I do around 10k miles each year. I have never (close your eyes @Wighty ) even checked the oil between annual services let alone topped it up. But, as @Blobcat says, Mercedes will likely argue that much higher consumption is “normal”.

None of my Mercs have ever used any oil, as far as I am aware. I did have to top up the SL55 once or twice, but very rare. What engine do you have ? (V8, V6, Petrol, CC ?)

53s are in-line 6 (3 litre) with EQ-Boost (48v mild hybrid)

Me I don't trust any of that. I wud find out the qty supposed to go in. Drain measure put in qty that came out. Be aware of any difference start car run a day or so and if need be be prepared to top up from what I measured and put back, and what the stated qty is supposed to be. No dipstick is just a 10 cent saving bollocks. Same as present trans oil change complicated by some pimpled git at benz. Who must have been as brainless as scooby do.

I got it with 7200 miles on the clock, it had its b service ~8200 miles and it’s currently got 9100 on the clock.

car was registered May 21.

I’ll check it again today
