The most common fault is a wheel sensor (front) or the cable leading to it, without having some knowledge of electronics or instrumentation the easiest way out is to get the fault code read out.
You could remove the sensors (hall effect and magnetic wheel bearings) and clean them, there are threads here on doing that.
does the lamp come on when you start the car, or does it only come on after you have driven a short distance.

Yes the light is on when i turn the ignition on and does not go off after starting.

Just sloved my ABS problem by charging the battery. I had the same symptoms as you.

Could be faulty OVP relay depending on age of car. What model and age is it? Also if OVP relay you'd have erratic idle and harder starting and ABS light on. Check fuse box too.

Yes Steive,
W124 model year 89, starting is abit hard and idle is at times 1100 rpm and down to 600 rpm, it fluctuates.
Well i will check the fuse and the OVP tomorrow.
TQ to all

On the OVR pin number 30 is the 12v in and pins 87 are the output.if the voltage on pins 87 are low, the fuse will have gone (on top) by putting a voltmeter onto the outpur and tapping the relay, this would show up any dry soldered joint that these things are prone to.

If the ABS lamp is not lit when you start the car, but comes on after a short drive, this would normally be a wheel sensor problem.

I am thinking of taking out the relay and test it out side, so which is the input (+)to the relay and the (-) to the relay. Then I can measure the output from the points, before changing it to anew one. TQ

I have told you what is the in and out+ you can find the ground with a resistance check on the car relay holder.

I solved the problem by changing the OVP relay and everything is back to normal.
