I have a 72 450SL with 99,000 miles. It runs great with one inconsistent exception..."sometimes" it will hesitate (almost like a misfire) during light acceleration. I do not see this with heavy acceleration or cruising or idling. I have tried new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, tune-up, and rear fuel filter....to no avail. If anyone has experience, I would greatly appreciate your advice. Thanks. Ron

This is tracking somewhere, remove the distributer cap and the rotor arm. look at the reverse side of the rotor arm. any signs of burning? blue markings. if so replace it.

This engine does suffer from condensation on the under side of the rotor, if cleaned and wiped over with silicon it helps alot.
