As some of might have read I have by default kind of inherited a rather nice SL more a car share to help out my over stretched son, everytime over the last 4 months I've been out in the car the weather has been appalling, I've never had the roof down, well this weekend I had to, I picked up a Christmas tree no way would it fit in the boot so in the fog at minus 8 I drove the 8 miles home, I felt a right prat.

When I bought my 129 it was winter,,on a fine day in Jan the sun was shining so I thought time for a drive with the roof down, within 5 miles I hit icy fog and dam near froze to death,,people staring at me,,first lay by and the roof went up. The 230 is much better in this respect and you do not get cold,,but I know how you felt;)

Very very twitchy on the back roads so much so I went to work in the Lexus this morning thats also awful.

Im wondering what to do with the Lexus, someone gave me a deposit for it 4 weeks ago without seeing it other than pictures, put 1k into my bank account but still hasn't come up with the remaining balance, since then I have had two other people wanting to buy it that I have had to turn down.

The guy seems very genuine and decent but how long do I wait?

I had a mark 10 jag for sale some years back for £500, I took £700 in deposits of around £50 each but no one came back for it,, I sold it in the end for £300 and still had all of the deposits.

I worded the deposits as part payment, that way they were non returnable

This guy has put the money into my account, I have given no receipt, just acknowledged the fact it's gone into my bank account. I think he might be having problems raising the finance, I guess its going to be down to morals.

When the next person comes along - as you sound a nice honest chap, offer to refund his deposit - if he is having problems, he may be delighted to be released.
I'm always amazed how many people enter into a major commitment without being certain that the funds are in place.

On the roof down, when things started going well I bought the Mrs a Rover 216 cabrio. (big mistake but that's another story). Took delivery Jan 1 and, well, you just have to put the roof down and cruise about, dont you! Very chilly around the ears!

cash-poor, friend-rich or vice-versa

at least if you're skint you know your friends are real. Despite the fact that you have a lot of virtual friends as well Malcolm.

Well the Lexus has gone and what a nice decent fella that bought it, I say that hoping the online bank tranfer we did from my computer goes through without a hiccup.
