I have a 1990 300SL which I use on a daily basis. I have to say I was rather allarmed when a repairer suggested to me that an insurance company would only give £4,000 for it should it be written off. It is in what might be described as near perfect unrestored condition. since buying the car in January, I have scoured the magazines and autotrader and have not see one under £9,000. Consequently I have looked for an agreed value policy. However, I have been unable to find one that doesn't limit the milage (I do 12,000 a year), exept for one, from Footman James that wanted £1,500 PA premium - I have 6 years+ no claims and am in my mid 40s and I currently pay £200!

Does anyone know of an insurer that will give an agreed value on a long milage without charging the earth?

Many thanks:)

Try a Google on classic car insurance and work your way through the list - you may well find a company that will suit you

If you have no joy with specilaist insurers or costs, an alternative would be to keep proof ie close up photos of the car to evidence bodywork and miles etc as well as other sourced info ie true price comparribles from auto trader or wherever. At least you'll have ome amo to fall back on in a fight with insurers

i,m with adrian flux, mines £10,000 agreed..£140 for 3000m but 5000m would be £210...might be worth trying for higher mileage..it may still be cheaper than your current quote
