My 2001 E55 needs a new air con compressor -I've got a Mercedes Benz used car warranty on the car,but so far it's proved to be totally useless,as they always seem to find a reason why a failed part isn't covered - .the local dealer is quoting a ridiculous price,as usual. Anybody know where I can source one at "normal" money? I presume they are a common item throughout all the E class range of that year -I'm pretty sure it isn't a special one for the amg model

thanks

S500L 2001, gone but, never forgotten
Years ago I had a similar problem, "you need a new compressor", so, I searched and found a mobile air-Con technician who came and replaced the offending "O" ring, and re-gassed the unit. All for a fraction of the cost of the recommended replacement. What ever happened to all the repair kits? Why replace a whole unit when a new "O" ring, spring or connector is all that is needed?
