I own a 2015 S class 350d Bluetech. I wish to change the air filters, so I looked on Youtube. One video suggests that once the filters are changed, the car needs to go on Star to "calibrate" the filters. I presume that the sensor that needs to be removed to remove one side of the filters, measures the vacuum in the filter box and adjusts fuelling accordingly?

I would have thought that the sensor would self calibrate once new filters had been fitted?

Thoughts please

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- 1.2 vauxhall Corsa 2021 ,orange with a black roof. .
The car will readjust fuelling once the filters are changed . I'd think the only time star would be needed is when the old filters are absolutely Minging.

Haven’t had to do STAR calibration on any of our Merc’s over the years. Even the CLS didn’t need anything.

In both E classes that I've owned, I've changed the airfilters without any problems, but for other MB models it maybe different.

'Need' and 'can' are different things. Probably very few have reset adaption values after changing MAF...

Both values are adjusted by learning, so usually driver notice nothing. Remember couple of reports when engine started behaving slightly naughty after filter change.

MB doe this a matter of course during service when replacing the air filters. Have this on the receipt from my last service on my W251.
Otherwise the car relearns which takes time.
