Air Filter

Hi

Can anyone tell me what is the unit that is attached to the box where the air filter fits . It has a pipe that fits on it and a sensor of some kind.

What is the purpose of it ?

For a C 230 K , 1998 , Sport

Hi

No not the MAF .

This unit fits on the air filter box

Nooooooo!

On the Kompressor engine concerned in this query it is the air flap associated with the Kompressor and if it malfunctions will most certainly affect performance.

All MB's have the heater and vents at the top near windscreen, and all flaps are internal.

So what is the best option to test this . Without a code reader .

Is there some kind of test i could do to see if it is woking.

I am sure there is but I don't know it I am afraid. If the flap fails to operate it stops the Kompressor clutch engaging and generates a fault code which needs a Star Diagnostic to read it I am afraid.
