Hi there

Looking at getting a couple of bits fixed on the car.
1) 3rd brake light on the boot
2) Blower control (1,2,3 don’t work..... only 4 & 5)

Spoke to Mercedes and they quoted me over £200 to fix the brake light.
And the blower. They want to charge £100 to do a check on blower. Then additional charge for parts and labour afterwards.

The car is a Mercedes C220 Avantgarde 2006

Are these costs about right. Or am I better of finding a local guy in Bournemouth area.

I’d 100% find a local guy but that is just my opinion
It could run in to £100s and £100s with Mercedes

Hello and welcome

Taking a 2006 Mercedes to a main dealer is an interesting choice... I doubt anyone in the workshop (actually on the tools) will have any knowledge of them at all.

Get to a good Mercedes specialist as per above - much less £££ and much better knowledge

Hi,
Have a look at the wiring harness from the car to the boot lid. There may be a broken cable, core in loom. Could be an easy fix for the third brake light.

As above use a good Indy on an older car.

Third brake light issues are generally wire related inside the loom in the boot hinge. Defo go to a indy, I was quoted £3800 to get my car right from the merc stealer an indy done it for £800. :D

Apart from Cole at MBS in Southampton, I can recommend Richard at Hamilton Auto Tech in Corfe Mullen and Star Tech on the Creekmore Industrial Estate. Richard is likely to be cheaper as he is a one man band working from his garage at home.

What you must bear in mind is the high labour charges that a main dealer will charge including Star diagnostics. You should find an indy is half the labour rate of a main dealer. The parts should be the same price.
