ambient lighting not working

hi my ambient lighting not working on 2018 220d estate w212 brightness checked all ok where is fuse for this does anyone know TIA very much appreciated

or any other ideas ?

I had a similar issue with my W205 a few years back. During the 'B' service, the L/H passenger kick panel is removed to change the cabin filter this necessitates unplugging the ambient lighting cable. On this occasion, it was not reconnected.

Does it need to be dark to work ?

I had a 2019 E Coupe where similar happened I cured it by going into system and changing colours this did the job for me, plus the ambient light worked regardless of time of day.

A 2018 car would be a W213 wouldn't it, or was it sat in a field for a long time?

Is it ALL the ambient lighting or just certain bits of it?

hi yes w213 & yes all the ambient lighting could it be fuse 417 ? & if so where is it located if you know cheers

That looks like the fuse box in the engine bay judging by the translucent hydraulic reservoir I can see. Do you have a fuse box at the RHS end of the dashboard when you open RHS front door? Sometimes, not sure with your model there is a folded paper diagram giving all fuses and relay information on fuse boxes in engine bay, internal car (as noted) and rear fuse box behind removable panel on LHS of car. If so that will tell you all you need to know.

yes they are the engine compartment,passengerside footwell & boot no paperwork in any of the boxes ? cheers

Can`t you just disconnect the battery ?

Only things that should need resetting on connection is the windows and possibly the presets on the tranny (if you can say that now-a-days)

You can turn it off? Woohoo I’m turning mine off next time I use the car. I dislike ambient lighting, utter pointless nonsense.

Hell no! Not got time to read those 3 massive books!

The amount of gibberish in modern cars is just stupid. Can’t beat basic functionality done well.

no electric mirrors, seats, windows etc in your cars then .....

I didn't RTFM either but had a play with the dash cluster
