Finally bit the bullet and sent my E320 CDi estate off to Alex at AMF to fix numerous faults. Car was going into limp mode because of DPF, battery kept going flat, one injector was blowing, SBC was nearing the end, A/c wasn't working and a few other things to boot. Basically had a car which I couldn't rely on and which was beyond my DIY capabilities.

Sending it to AMF was the best thing I did. Alex diagnosed everything, gave me a very detailed quote and then went ahead and fixed all the issues. He and his team are extremely knowledgeable and always came back to me whenever I asked a question or raised an issue.

I should also thank this forum for the recommendation to use AMF and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
