change is hard and even harder for some folk ,we can moan moan moan, But change is coming, i didnt buy an electric car to save the planet or go green i bought it because i did not want to spent 35k on a merc, it just so happens that its everything we hoped it would be ,.any car will have an impact on the enviroment through its production process be it petrol or diesel or whatever but as an electric motor ages it does not pump out more crap like poorly maintained diesel pumping filth into the atmosphere it merely stops, if you go into manchester city centre the nox hits you on a hot day its like the air is thick with toxins.

I’ve read this over and over and still have no idea what you are trying to say.

This, however, is very green, where it counts, on my wallet!! IMG_20230702_120828.jpg

You could ask the same question of all the dumped extra solar panels and windmill blades.
Yep. I'm sure we will see recyling of batteries become the norm. Too many valuable minerals in them to throw them out.

Old EV batteries are being trialled as backup supplies for industry and also PV storage for houses as they still have some useful life left

The transition to green transport is ill thought out in the business sector my daughter is currently through tax implications being forced into a Plug-in Hybrid petrol car and in all likelihood 80% of her travelling time will be spent using the petrol engine which is insane - our rule makers really don’t know what they are doing unfortunately.
Too busy being rule breakers :p:p:p:p:p

It's personal choice, for now.?. But bearing in mind the tiny part of the planet that the UK is, and the fact that the majority of the planet is, until it runs out, burning oil, coal, gas and wood. One does wonder (well I do) are a few duracells pottering about in the UK going to have much effect on the global situation? I am not convinced about that.
When the grid can cope I see duracells as a good thing for city dwellers, public transport, taxis ect, but currently of little use to folks in rural areas. I don't, and never will be living in any city, or large town. Therefore duracells won't be appearing on my drive and after the current model goes nor will any modern car! 1000 pound headlights, 1000 pound bumpers, 1800 adblue systems, nox sensors, why would anyone go looking for that f headache. I retired so old, decent daily classic currently make good sence, currently I can still do what's required (service, repairs) without givin 200 to get hooked up to some f laptop to find out what's goin on. My existing classic parts are peanuts by comparison, no tax no mot cheap insurance, a tidy 40 50 Yr old daily classic has already proved itself and will prob last another 20+yrs what's not to like.? Only downside I forsee, won't be doing 60mpg. Irrelivent to total annual running costs especially when out of warranty. And as dtf kicks in.

not saying i,m in partnership with greta and if i was that green i would not have a 44year 5 pot diesel, at the moment ranges on electric cars are 3/400 miles , i see that up to easily 7/800 miles in the next 10 years, not bought to go green but to have cheaper running cost without the mechanical headaches of modern cars is a bonus i think.
