Hello folks,

I'm in recovery from a mid life crisis purchase of a Mazda RX-8 , which I am now replacing with a new-ish R Class 320 CDI Sport. I've had a quick trawl around the forum, and I haven't come across too many R Class threads so far. Does anyone else out there have one and what do I need to know about this fine vehicle?

Looking forward to joining in with the chat.

Cheers,

iPaul

Yes, not so many R class threads because they are hugely expensive and not many of us can afford one!!

Looks like a great car though. One of my coleagues recently had one as a hire car and did 2500 miles in two months and was pretty impressed with it. The colleague in question normally drove a 2006 Audi A4 2.0Tdi estate.

I hope you had a great deal on the R Class as I believe the residuals are very poor.

Hi Blobcat,

Thanks for your concern ;) It's an 07 plate 320L CDI sport with 8,000 miles and all of the toys (COMAND, rear seat DVD screens, panoramic roof, full iPod integration, bluetooth, etc.) for £34.5k from MB direct, which I thought was not too bad. Building the same spec on the MB web site comes up with a new list price nudging £49k.

Hopefully the next couple of years depreciation won't be quite so nose bleed inducing for me :D If you do spot me in the soup kitchen in a couple of years time, spare me some loose change for a cup of tea guvna!

Cheers,

Paul
