Hi team,

I have a random fault to do with start/stop. I've trawled the web but can't find the same diagnosis.

Car is a 2014 B200 auto diesel - I am aware that certain interlocks must be made first.

with all systems and interlocks working, i get the green ECO icon fine. it also changes to amber when interlocks aren't met, so assuming the system is working correctly.

now sometimes, with all working well and green icon displayed, once the car stops, engine cuts out - happy. However when i take my foot off the brake, the engine feels like its trying to start 'in gear' and sounds like its firing backwards, then i get an amber warning message which i've never been able to read in time as its quickly replaced with a red transmission warning.

turning off the car and turning back on clears the fault and the car drives perfectly

if i turn off eco mode, the car drives perfectly. Sometimes the system works as it should. however, it's leaving me with a nervous disposition at busy junctions and roundabouts! :(

I'm thinking it might be gearbox related? like it hasn't clutched? is there a reset feature without remortgage at the dealers?

thanks for reading

any ideas most welcomed!!

Sorry to hear of your problem :( I think a trip to a good indy to get any fault codes read might be needed. I don't have much experience with that system as the first thing I do when I get in my car is to turn start/stop off!

So do we now! :D i tried just pulling the fuse, but they've run the hazard lights through it too so you get a warning about that instead o_O

Disable it as it's a bad thing .

Some just by the auxiliary battery fuse , or removing a terminal lead .

Now with battery removed .

But as models get later it's not so simple but there's always a way .

There’s more...
Just found these codes. Cleared them for now. Will see if they come back.

side note - while I was faffing with the obd reader, the car was in neutral with the handbrake on, and every now and then it tried to pull forward like it was finding a bite point. But then immediately back off. Is that a thing with these gearbox’s??
