I would personally go for the one on pistonheads(SL500). Its looks very neat with 60K and loads of history and the overall look of the car is very clean.

As far as repair bill goes, find yourself a reputable indie and you will be sorted for repairs

All of those cars are the same regarding build, the green on maybe be electronic in the engine, if it was I would have that one

television. What do you mean by electronic in the engine? Does this make it more complex? Green one is the one with no air con :(, otherwise that would be the one that jumps out.

Unsure of the interior of the 500, it is rather BURGUNDY!!!!!!!!!!!

The green one gets my vote, but the number of owners might hurt when you sell it, that's if you ever sell it, having said that my Wife was the 7th owner of an MX5, I think some cars just go through owners, especially verts, people buy them to get a dream out of their system.

During 1995 the engines went over to coil packs, rather than use distributors, this is valid for the 500

As for Amo. Comprehensive spec (I think you would regret no A/C in the green one) and the 500 engine.

I have had a similar car for 5 years now and have changed the MAF and one distributor cap (less than £300 in all) plus Indy servicing.

The 8 hole alloys are easy to keep and 225 tyres have adhesion to spare with the 500, so the larger rubber on the 320 is cosmetic (and would frustrate rotation of tyres to balance wear).

500 fuel consumption is OK if it is for recreation and touring - expect around 25 mpg.

It is very quick, and at 60,000 just run in nicely.

If you don't like the upholstery, buy Raybans and look cool!

A development

A further development. I can get a 97 R plate 320SL, with panoramic roof, for £5k. Havn't seen it yet but looks clean in the pics (don't they always!). Downside, and it is a MAJOR one, is it has no history with it. It was a repossession and the history, if it ever had any, didn't come withe the car. 94k miles. I would need to get it inspected by someone who knows what they are looking at, but worth a punt (although resale coule be a nightmare). Seat bolster edge slightly worn apparently.

The service history can be obtained from MB if there is or was any, and that would not put me off as all parts of the car can be seen, heard and checked with ease, all of the seats wear on the drivers side. An HPI check would reveal any crash damage of importance
