Yes, same storey, they told me it is a 2014 model o_O even when I pointed out that they stopped making them in a about 1995, im dreading trying to order any parts for it and really worries that the UK registration will go through properly.

You would be surprised at what they have in stock. Most run of the mill items are available filters etc i use them for my parts i only use genuine parts.
Parts you wont get are front wings, doors and dash board plastics etc.
If you have problems getting parts contact me and i will see if i can help.
There is a person who breaks them up in Suffolk i have his contact details.
He sells them on Ebay bungle05 his prices are a bit wild when you can buy them new cheaper at Mercedes.

Thanks, I don’t see how they could be supplying the correct parts without the correct information, would they supply 2014 parts for my 83 vehicle?

One of the problems you will find when ordering parts is that the the parts personal who know the vehicles inside and out and could quote the part numbers of the top of their head have retired or have left the industry.
A lot of the younger generation in the parts department were not even born when the last of the T1s were at end of the production in 1995.

I need the rubber bush that fits between the cranked gearstick part and the stub that comes out of the box, any ideas where I can get one please? Apparently unattainable from Rossetti, but they were also struggling with the chassis number (again ). Did they do a one piece stick? It keeps working loose.

Good morning,
I changed that very same part on my van in the past 2 years plus the 2 rubber boots.
I have checked the on line parts catalogue and the part number number comes up the same for your chassis number it is
A6672670096
I will double check with my invoice when i get home tonight .
There should be a washer in the middle of the pinch bolt to stop you over tightening the pinch bolt.
I have enclosed a link to the parts page.

The part number is correct. I purchased it in April 2020 cost £4.45+VAT. Not a stock item will have to be ordered if it is still available.
It might come up as a protective cap on their system.
Enclosed picture of set up assembled gear lever.

Rossetts Aldershot are much more informed than the Worthing branch, gearstick part ordered 4.95 plus, so not much more. No hub cap though, so still on the hunt for that.

I have used them for all of my parts purchased from when i purchased my van in 1990 from Puttocks of Guildford. Rossetts took over the dealership after it was sold/taken over.

Are you local to Aldershot? I'm near Billingshurst West Sussex, we'll have to hold a T1 meet sometime :)

Well the new rubber made absolutely no difference, well it did, it was even worse. I need to use the van later today so was experimenting with all kinds of packers, shims etc all to no avail, then it dawned on me that the only thing that would stop it from swivelling would be a straight gearstick, so thats exactly what I did, I was expecting it to work but sit in an awkward place, but it is fine, no problem at all and has cured the problem.

I changed mine because the rubber boot on top of the gearbox was perished. The picture in post number 28 has a washer which locates in a slot in the stub on top of the gearbox which stops the gear lever from rotating.
You should not have to alter the gear lever unless somebody has been there before you and bodged it up.
I did leave you my contact details in a email to you did you receive it?.
