And that's said with a tint of sarcasm. This is not a plea for help just a chance to share experiences.
Well I have bagged myself a S210 E320 CDI for a measly £400ish I say that as much is being spent on her. And I absolutely love her. As far as I've driven her, which is about 4 miles and that was to her MOT failure. A few points.
Airbag light on, I've traced that to the passenger seat, no worries. that's the last thing I'll fix.
Deterioration of headlamp lens. Should have spotted that. My dad fixed that with a restoration kit. Looks much better
Excessive smoke, Yeah again should have noticed this but Only became apparent when driving to MOT station.
I have replaced both front springs, track rod ends and ball joints. she'd had a new gear selector after previous owner spilt coffee on it.
To cure the smoke issue I have completely cleaned the intake manifold and removed the port flaps, The motor has been replaced with a resistor.
Jobs still to do. Well get her started for one. at first she wouldn't crank then I remembered I'd not put the starter trigger back on so did that. Now she cranks but wont fire. Not the result I was expecting. I had a quick look around and couldn't see anything I had missed but light was failing, and it had started to rain. Wish I could have stayed longer and worked it out but needed to get the battery back into the c class, pack up tools and clean myself somewhat.
Its been an evening of thinking and guessing but in reality I need to be there to try things. The joys of having a car stored away I guess. Hopefully she'll be ready for Christmas. would be nice
I have enjoyed working and learning on this vehicle, applying the things I have been taught.
Just an added issue have noticed injector blow by on my c class so that's a priority now, see mercs are fun to live with, sometimes.
