Artico is very poor unfortunately

It is now because they have cut costs/standards to make it cheaper for them to buy. My 2005 CLK had over 135,000 miles on the clock before the Artico started to crack and it was used every single day. I would say the original Artico was more like MB tex than the stuff they fit now.

MB Tex back in the day wore forever (the taxis had it as standard) the regular leather lasts well and the nappa and designo leather are very good indeed

Agree, will not consider another Mercedes, a shame really as apart from the seat, a fantastic car, changing shortly looking at new BMW M3 sport touring or Taycan.
Unless problem resolved

Or get it re trimmed in leather, this is what I did, had it re trimmed in Nappa Leather, yes a touch expensive, but if keeping a car for long, then definitely worth it, for me anyway.

Do you mean Artico rather than Article ?. On the build sheet on my car it clearly says Leather but it is actually Artico, in other words vinyl.

On my drivers seat I too have a very small area where there is evidence of pealing. Unfortunately the car is now five years old so there will be no hope of a warranty claim even though the car has only done 23,000 miles.

Since when did the definition of the word “ARTICO” meaning anything.
Only relates to “Artic”,
Why would anyone think it means vinyl, or pvc
Not clear sales brochure at time,
In the shoe trade leather is coated with pvc, and EC regs, allow this material to be called
“Coated leather” provided thickness of pvc coating not more 40% and leather content more 50%, thickness.

Why would anyone think it is NOT leather such a material.

They mean advantage to buyer being the cost. That would be the only advantage though. By the time you have replaced cracked Artico seat the advantage would be lost I would have thought and you still have Artico

Your right, but when it does not perform to expectations, the manufacture should accept responsibility.
5500 miles is well below expectations, where under warrantee or not.
Not fit for purpose.
