I wrote to the forum a few months ago about a noisey diff on my 1988 260E in Russia. I have located a S/H diff & had it fitted today. The diff has ASD but I dont think the mechanic understood the ASD system. The diff has a bleed nipple on it to bleed the ASD system but he insisted it didnt need bled. If that was the case MB would not fit a bleed nipple.
Can anyone help with the procedure to bleed the ASD system,do I need to simulate 1 wheel spinning to activate the Asd pump to bleed it. Also what oil or fluid is in the ASD system.
The S/h diff is better than my old one but still has a noise. the dealer had another 2 diffs with the same ratio & ASD so I may go back & try another unit later in the week.Would anyone advise fitting a pinnion bearing to my old unit as the noise seems to be from the front pinnion bearing.
Thanks in advance for any advice
