I have a CLK320 1999 Sport model. It has a factory fitted Audio10 with a 6 CD changer in the boot, according to the manual it was made by Becker.

Has anyone had this problem? What is the fix for it?

When listening to CD's it suddenly stops with a loud scratch like sound and the head unit freezes in the track that is playing. After a few minutes the head unit displays 'NO CD' message in the LCD. It plays the cd from where it stopped if I switch the head unit off for a few minutes (15-20 mins). It is random and sometimes it will play a few tracks only, on other occasions it may even play a few cds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If there are any scratches on the disc of marks, these will knock the pick up off line, if the marks are small the CD player will fill in the missing piece. the pick actually scans the two tracks adjacent to the used track to stay on coarse, when the scratch or damage goes beyond 3 tracks, it will retry two or three times, when it can no longer read the info, it will come up" No disc"

If your disc are clean and perfect, then the gain has gone down on the pick up and it needs replacing.
