not to sure about a straight swap, though its something I've considered as well.
You would probably need to change the speedo and the bit where the lever comes through as well as the 5 speed box has three options other than straight drive.
I'll have a nose around some info I've got to see if the back axles have different gearing as these might need changing, again the prop might need to go as well.
I read somewhere that the 5 speed is not as good/reliable as the 4 speed, which in turn was not as good as the 3 speed. Anybody got any comments about this.
Thats a heck of an upgrade. Have you considered these things:
1. Selling the car and finding an equivalent, except with the 5 speed auto
2. Complete drivetrain swap (engine+gearbox). As I understand it, the 5 speed integrates more electronics with the engine, so perhaps there is a different ECU for a car with the 5 speed?
3. How you're going to insure the thing, once the swap is done?
