Hi all, please can someone shed some light on this for me.
Had a B service message flag up, dropped car to the garage I've used many times. When I picked car up they said an A service which is 363 days late has flagged up. They are unable to turn it off now.
What can I do and why would this happen?
TIA

Hello and welcome

I’m guessing the garage isn’t a Mercedes specialist garage… ;)

The service indicator can be reset from the dash, sounds like it’s not been done correctly.

Thankyou! I've only had her 6 months and am a bit disappointed tbh.
No they're not a Mercedes-Benz specialist but a trusted garage... lesson learnt I suppose
Is the reset something I can do myself?

There are guides on YouTube to reset the service indicator. My concern would be if they don’t know how to do that correctly, what of the B service have they actually done?
The Mercedes service history is now online , have they updated it? Are they able to?
The “Indies” we recommend on the forum spend an absolute fortune on the Mercedes service tools, software and access systems. With that kit (and their experience) they can keep warranty valid and ensure your car is kept better than if you’d taken it to Mercedes direct.

My guess is they reset it with a reader thats not fully MB compatible.

If you have a good indy nearby. Ask them nicely and they may well do it free. Not knowing car you have. They can be sometimes be done on ones own.

That was my thoughts!! Its my local Formula 1 garage. They assured me that they can update the online service history. They've done services etc on previous cars and I've not had a problem. Thankyou for the advice, I'll have a look around for someone else to take care of her

Ah ok.. I wasn't aware that they'd be able to use anything that wasn't compatible I have an A180D. I spent the whole of last year singing the Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz.... finally got her for Xmas. Still learning clearly. Will definitely look for someone else now. Thankyou

Nothing wrong with Janis Joplin, I named my A Class after her.

Aldous Harding was too much of a mouth full.

Welcome. If you let us know roughly where you are, someone may be able to recommend a decent local indie.

There is a software glitch in Assyst plus that requires an update using the Xentry system on-line to MB. This is not freely available to all independent specialists - restricted to a select few who have been vetted by MB (apparently). I had my S213 serviced yesterday and the same problem has occurred - after resetting the service indicator, it still shows that service is 25,000 miles overdue. The indie that I have been using for the past 14 years does not have the on-line version of Xentry and has referred me to another local indie who does - I am booked in for it tomorrow. The update takes about an hour and will cost me £100 +VAT!

A glitch like that would be free at MB to update

You could be right! I never gave it a thought - I'm so used to not even thinking about main dealers for servicing/repairs. Never mind, it's done now. Apparently, the glitch only happens on the 5th service with the reset of the service indicator. Whether or not the indie has the Xentry system with on-line access appears to be more a question of cost rather than any selection process - it is expensive to have. Anyway, all of the software is now updated - power train control unit, engine electronics, transmission control and 'selective catalytic reduction' (I had to look that up - apparently, SCR technology is one of the most cost-effective and fuel-efficient technologies available to help reduce diesel engine emissions)

Yes this is a common issue. You have to delete the latest service reset (can only do this via STAR) update the software and then have to sync the Assyst plus to the power train control module, then reset the service menu using STAR rather than the workshop function on dash.

Another reason why all makes workshops will start to disappear.
