Bad vibrations/noise

Hi All, i recently purchased a 1989 250TD which has a real bad vibration which resonates through the whole car. It happens between 20mph and 40mph on light accelleration or decelleration. I thought it was the diff but after further investigation on a lift i noticed the engine mounts are quite soft and the driveshaft could be out of balance. The diff seems to be OK. Could these things cause such a problem? Anybody else had similar issues? Thanks for any replies.

Welcome to the forum.
Could be one of many things, I have a similar sort of problem, and I have put it down to the propshaft centre bearing, and flexi coupling will be replaced as well while the prop is off.
I,m sure someone more knowledgable than myself will be along to comment on my diagnosis

Hi, thanks for the reply. While the car was up on the lift i noticed that the front flexi coupling was new and the front part of the prop has been replaced or just cleaned while apart. Maybe the last owner was trying to fix the vibation but gave up and traded it in.
