HI David

This is a copy of the Email from MB last month. It does state 'All W203 RHD Saloons with chassis WDB203...........'
But as yours is WDC (daimler chrysler) not WDB (daimler benz), I presume yours is not affected.

It took four phone calls for me to get this Email. The first few people knew nothing about it. Then after I quoting my father recall letter, they went back to technical department.

I seems the recall was done in Ireland way before the UK. It is up to the dealer, so you should ring your dealer, just to be sure.

I think MB are due another call and mail from me.

Dear Mr *******

Thank you for contacting the DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center.

We can now confirm that only right hand drive Mercedes-Benz C-Class saloon models with chassis number WDB203 are affected by the battery service measure . It will be the responsibility of the dealerships to send out the letters to their customers to inform them of this measure. Furthermore we can assure you that there is no fire risk involved.

Should you have any further requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Lisa Shannon

WDC cars are affected.......... MB

I have just been informed by MB that the made a error in the original Email.

The cars affected are all C-Class RHD saloons chassis no. WDC203*** 2R *******
The 2 means RHD, & the R south Africa

It is not classed as a recall, but a service measure. Batteries will be replaced free of charge.

MB customer service apoligise for the error in the original Email, as they interpreted it wrongly from their technical department.

EMail to follow

I'd read that the 10th digit of the VIN was the model year, or, in MB's case an encoded version of the model year?
