Hello,
I work for a television production company, Raise the Roof Productions. We are currently in production of a BBC One holiday program hosted by Len Goodman. We are looking for a 1970’s Mercedes for filming on Wednesday 2nd July.
The idea of the show is that Len Goodman will take a celebrity guest each episode back to a holiday destination from their childhood. In this case we will be taking Ainsley Harriott back to Blackpool. Ainsley would travel to Blackpool to watch his father Chester Harriott play jazz piano at the Planet Room in the Winter Gardens, now known as the Arena.
Ainsley has memories of been driven around Blackpool in, what he describes as, a very showbiz Mercedes. We would love to be able to take him on a short drive along the promenade in one of these magnificent cars.
The cars that I have been looking at are the 1970’s Mercedes-Benz 280 SL, the 1974 Mercedes 240D Sedan and the 1972 Mercedes Benz 250ce. It is that sort of glamorous style that we are looking for. The cars I have been looking at online are red and look fantastic but the colour isn't essential. The cars I have been looking at have also been hardtops but again this is not an essential.
I was wondering if you could shed any light on whether we might be able to find one for filming? Is there is anybody in the Blackpool area that you know of that may own one and be willing to join us for filming on Wednesday 2nd July in Blackpool to do a short amount of filming with it, most likely in the morning?
