belt tencioner on 250 diesel 1994

HI, i;ve 250 m reg diesel .
last night tencioner bolt witch holds the dumper and the spring has snaped ,though, i took it apart and tried to replace the bolt thinking that the groove on the bolt (17''alan key) has gone ,but unfortunately it was not the bolt but ,the groove on the actual block ,
who can help with adwise or maybe someone knows anybody in King's lynn airea,thanks alot anyway

"The groove on the block" - don't quite understand that. The tensioner arm is on a big allen-headed bolt. Has that bolt snapped? If so you'll have to remove it and buy a new bolt (I've actually got one if you want one)

Or has something else snapped?

Replace the damper if it's shot. They tend to rattle when the top metalastik bush breaks up. If the damper's still good you can put a rubber bush either side of the damper top mount, bolt it up tight and the rattle will stop

Check the idlers and bearings & replace any that are noisy when you spin them. Also think about replacing the water pump while you're in there. About £40 exchange from the dealer

You'll probably need to take the rad out and remove the fan to make life easier. Hope you haven't got aircon!

Hi Nick , thred has gone on the actual block ,not on the allan headed bolt,so this is a bit mo complicated then i thought, do i have to take the head off?
and another q? do yuo know where can i get set of springs lowered about 30 40 mil? i want to drop my . :) cheers mate

:) HI. thanks to everyone who helped me out


we've it fixed .
needed to to do a new thread so we did i 'm happier than ever :)
it cost 150 £ ,not too bad?
