Hello and welcome. Insurance is a hard thing and very individual, what one company quotes for one person can be very different for another, see what others think

Best thing would be to use a couple of comparison websites. Insurance premiums are based on so many factors that no two are ever alike. You should check every year as well as the premiums go up if you stay with the same insurer. I have used comparison sites to beat the current insurer down on price. If you have more than one car it is worth seeing if they will mirror the no claims from one car to another. Mine did this when I bought the S600 so I got full no claims even thought I had originally only one car before I bought the S600 recently. Shop around is the best advice.

Hi and welcome from me too.

As Malcolm rightly points out, it depends on a variety of factors.
I would give Lloyds TSB a ring. I always shop around every year at renewal time, however i'm just about to renew with them.

No-one was able to match my renewal quote and I get a fair few perks thrown in for loyalty.

Their number is: 0800 597 1305

It's always worth sitting down with the yellow pages and ringing round though.

Good luck, DoverSole

Used to have Mrs R's car with the Co-op as did many of our friends - they were very good for any driver / any age insurance when our kids were learning to drive. But they gradually went up and we switched to a name driver policy with Liverpool Victoria (LV).

I find LV pretty good for my Merc too and they seem a good company to deal with - intelligent staff in UK offices etc. However other people I've referred to LV have found them too expensive.

Try a few comaprison sited and see what they throw up, or a specialist broker like Adrian Flux http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/

I tried all the comparison sites a month or so ago - Adrian Flux gave the best deal...

When you call you get to speak to a real person, they also give instant coverage and can email a cover note almost immediately.

I also recommend Adrian Flux.

I have just insured my wife's 911 through them. I saved £300 compared to the renewal quote and they were about £50 cheaper than the nearest other quote.

SLK's 2, CLK320 Cabriolet.
SWIFTCOVER.COM -can't be beat! Admiral "multi car" - not! (Quoted about £800 for 2 mercs. on wifes name SLK230k and 320CLK, got both on same policy, comprehensive, for £320 - deal! got my SLK230k fully comp.for £245.) I know there are many factors, but when you have max. no claims etc., and you shop around you get to know who is ripping you off - which probably applies to younger drivers with less no claims etc.

Admiral MultiCar worked out best for us. We went through the price comparison sites looking to insure just 2 cars (Jag & ML), and whilst we were deciding which to go for I bought the CLK. I ended up insuring all 3 fully comp for myself and the wife for pretty much the same as my 2 lowest quotes combined - winner.

As already mentioned, you can't generalise / recommend as it is based on individual circumstances.

Agreed. I changed from different insurers for the 3 cars we have to Admiral Multicar and now get 3 for the price of less than 2.

It is worth noting that placing new business is often cheaper than renewal because of the way the industry works - "A low rate to hoick them in". Always be wary of the rate they try to achieve when they think you are "in the keep net"!

Sounds like Adrian Flux could be worth a try then.

I'm curious enough to call for a quote myself, renewal in 2 days.

If you mention this forum - you should get additional discount.

They are very web savvy and understand the concept of viral marketing.

Try LV, the comparison sites and the others mentioned on here but just because one firm gives me a great quote has no bearing on whether they will give one to you. Postcode, engine size and even occupation can make a massive difference plus premiums from the same firm can change on a daily basis.
For example, I got a good quote and agreed the deal with the broker but there was a mess up and the policy wasn't started. A month later when I found out I wasn't insured I contacted them (as you would!!) and demanded they re-instate the policy but as a month had passed it was too late and I had to start the policy from scratch. This time, the firm that was the best deal 4 weeks ago didn't appear in the top 10!
It's a constantly moving target so just do all your searching on the one day.

Hi, not been on for a week or two due to changing the CLK. Because it's an engine spec higher, SAGA wanted quite a hefty increase.
MB Insurance (at the top of this forum page) came back with a better price for the 320 CDI than SAGA wanted for the 270 CDI so I have switched mid term. MB Insurance will also pay cancellation costs up to £50.

Would that be "Knock for Nock"?

Admiral MultiCar worked out the best for me also, I could not find a better quote, I have three cars insured with them, a 2003 Chrysler Grand Voyage 3.3LE, a 1991 R230 500SL and a BRABUS Converted SL55 AMG. all three fully comp for a total just under £1800. I used to pay £720 for the 500SL and £650 for the Voyager!

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
I second Admiral as well, although I found that crazily, two single policies with them were cheaper than their "multi-car" policy...

But I pay £320 for a clk 320 - not too bad for a 38 year old with 3 points and a prev claim.

E300 Diesel...now with less dents!
I had a laugh recently with Direct Line, online quote was £720, I rang up to ask some questions about the policy and they re-did the quote and came out at £1200 for the same answers.....

I re-did the online thing got £640 less 10% for having a family member insured with them so £576 fully comp.

Not quite sure how that works...
