Hi All

following my first post I think I have narrowed it down to a Turbo / Actuator issue on my E320 CDI W211 642 engine (getting P0244 and P2510 as well as Po132).

I am looking for recomendations for remanufactured turbo suppliers (765155 is I think is the Turbo) and I should also add I am thinking of changing to an ML W164 or W166 so am trying to spend as little as possible.

Thanks

erm, if the actuator is gone why do you need a new turbo.

actuators are common on the 642.
I replaced the one onne mine this years. they bolt on.

I have replaced the Actuator twice and am still getting the same issue EGR and flap motor looks OK but getting same error so was assuming the worst - sticking vanes

So its a VNT ?
I think it is but I am quoting Phill from Merc Spares and Repairs in my previous post which happens to be local to me and not speaking with any real knowledge. He lent me a 3rd Actuator for testing purposes and I still get the issue. I was going too use Turbo Technics to get my turbo re-manufactured. Avantgarde in Clevedon said they use Universal Turbos but they are a bit expensive for me so was looking for advise or options if possible on the best specialist Turbo people.

Thanks Abb I have looked extensively on the internet and spotted Turbo Surgery (see below), I am just looking for a recomendation from anyone who had actually replaced their Turbo and who they used but I may well give them a go as its a very good price and as you point out they have good reviews.

Nerings (actually based in Latvia I think) also have fantastic feed back

I have used Star and Lanch at my local garage and also iCarsoft 2 that I own and Autel and snapon that my mate has and get the same codes every time which come back whenever cleared. The latest garage (Merc Spares and Repairs in Caerleon) says that DPF back pressure is OK and EGR and Flaps / motor seem fine. I changed my Auctuator for one from Turbo Vanes which went into limp-mode less (once a day max) but still did and then as I stated previously Merc Spares and Repair lent me one that they know is good which goes into limp-mode more than my own New Actuator (several times a day) so not sure what you mean by better diagnostics.

Nightmare ,wish you luck.in good old days .does it spin ,is the bearing good, are vanes in good order,is ample oil/press gettin in supply, use guage.does waste gate work ? Thats about it.
Today all of that plus fly in ointment electrickery, something basically simple made complex.not really a forward move for reliability.

I'm not sure of the value of my contribution but I used Nering, they have a place here and the process was very easy.

The Turbo looked fine.

.......is ample oil/press gettin in supply
Is there a test point on the turbo for the oil flow? Is there any other way to check the amount of oil coming to the turbo? Thanks.

A guage will, with correct fittings go into oil press switch point, or you make a fitting to accommodate guage at turbo feed point ,as for flow I would normally leave turbo feed fitting/banjo loose then crank eng without allowing it to catch until I see oil arriving at banjo, this can make a bit of a mess, but possibly more of a mess of the turbo if oil supply compromised .

121500 miles currently - Cleaner does sound like a good place to start as I overlooked the more straight forward approach. I am looking to sell her to finance the purchace of an ML as the old man lives on a farm on his own and had a buyer on his way when this happened. Didnt want to sell it to him knowing that some time soon he would get the same problem.
