Ahhhh yes, I guess it would. That is, apart from when pulling away from standstill ;)

On a slightly different note, I see superchips are quoting a 30bhp increase for £500, for the C220 CDIs. Their C320 CDI 'chip' adds 37bhp to the already impressive 224 bhp. I have no experience of these though ... just thought I'd mention them :)
Quite hard to stall a diesel pulling away from standstill . I have a plentiful sufficiency of power already so not gone down the ECU remap or chipping route.

MYFIRSTPOST too.... A little confussed by a couple of things being the proud owner of a 2001 E320 CDI estate avantgarde seems the power output quoted by everyone appears up to 2000 models at 197 bhp and 2002 onwards models at 204 BHP...what about the 2001 model????
Done the search thingy on the previous post and gives me all the info except the power output, anyway I'm more than happy with the performance and economy especially following on from a 2.5 petrol V70, have already said I'm converted to a merc man now even though the car is essentially the wifes:(

It means you can shread the tyres at 2,000 reves rather than at 6,000 :D. The power is always available, you don't need to downshift twice to get the revs up into the power band. Although I don't wish to start the P vs D debate again...

It's easy!! supercharged petrol engine, my c230k 193bhp, max torque at 2500rpm and keeps it there till the red line and can give 30+mpg fully loaded with roof box at 90-110mph, i'll bet the diesels struggle to match that. (love the car, hate the rust) and it's done 145k.

Like a number of devices out there, it's not a new ECU chip, but an add-on device which remaps the power band by 'hijacking' the information coming from the ECU and (typically) holds the injectors open longer. Yes, you will see a significant increase in HP but you will very likely see a corresponding decrease in MPG. I have seen stories where these devices cause damage to injectors too - not sure I'd want one, though it would be nice to have a little extra power. ;)

Hi & Welcome, the 2001 will be the same power as the 2000 model. Although you could lose 10bhp down the back of the seat and not notice ;) :)
