Vehicle is :-
Y reg A160 Avante Garde with automatic tiptronic gears.
(Warranty ran out at the end of May)

Problem is :-
Started to seem to miss going into 2nd gear from first sometimes when the acceleration was applied a bit stronger, it would rev up to over 5000rpm with very little power then change to 2nd gear.
Problem has accelerated (pardon the pun) now as the dashboard has a big F in it and it doesn't seem to want to get past 2nd gear now. Reading the book provided its says that the F error code corresponds to a "Automatic Clutch Problem".
I have taken the vehicle to the local garage who can repair Merc's and he says its a transmission fault and it may need to actually go to the local Merc dealers (Westwoods in Blackburn).
Is it a transmission fault (or something else) and is it a very common A Class fault that has occured.
And lastly how much can I expect to be out of pocket when this is all over?
