I have to say, this one's got me. It's a 130k mile old 420se, which when driven normally consumes little oil. Even when on full throttle there's very little trace of burning oil. However, if the car is cornered 'swiftly' (unadvisable in these cars, I know) , or say round a long sweeping slip road, then every now and then a huge amount of smoke will billow from the exhaust.
Is there a crankcase breather on these cars which may be sucking oil up into the air box, or does oil may be build up in the head during cornering and get sucked past the aged valve seals?
