Bizarre 420se Smoking Problem

I have to say, this one's got me. It's a 130k mile old 420se, which when driven normally consumes little oil. Even when on full throttle there's very little trace of burning oil. However, if the car is cornered 'swiftly' (unadvisable in these cars, I know) , or say round a long sweeping slip road, then every now and then a huge amount of smoke will billow from the exhaust.

Is there a crankcase breather on these cars which may be sucking oil up into the air box, or does oil may be build up in the head during cornering and get sucked past the aged valve seals?

I think the oil is being picked up by the pistons, rather than top end problems.
you do have a breather, I have seen some sump mods somewhere, baffles to stop the oil surging, I will try and find.

Could it be an oil leak that drops onto the exhaust during cornering? I had a Rover P6 that did that.

I guess it could be oil leaking from the rocker cover, although I would expect it to take a while to burn off and that isn't the case with this problem. I'll have a look and check the seal.
