There were 2 rapid charge points at the Starbucks I was at on Friday - Volvo XC90 in one of them and a Peugeot 306 in the other....

Just open the window remotely and then enter Starsky and Hutch style? (and could you get someone to video it so we can all have a chuckle!).
That would end up on you tube like the one with the rather large man trying to get out of an i8...:)

So how did they get out of their car without door banging yours?
Good question but no damage to mine! Maybe a slip of a girl I guess ?

So, for anyone interested thought I’d give an annual update of “Living with an i8”
The things which I found slight negatives (as often happens) you become accustomed to/live with/adapt to:-
Having no auto hold function (probably what I miss most daily)
Having no memory seats (only an issue when the car is serviced etc)
Having to press a button to allow refuelling, then wait to be sure it will/release the fuel flap
Small/non existent boot (which matters very rarely having the opposing car in the XC90)
Small capacity fuel tank/range (I don’t often do long trips in it but I could imagine it would drive others who do quite loopy....looking at @Blobcat here)
Not a lot of noise/a bit synthetic when applied (Sports Mode)
Getting stared at
Finding spaces to park in to ensure you can get the doors open!
As I said all minor issues which I can live happily enough with (third world problems and all that)

What I’m really enjoying:-
The ride quality, especially in electric , so smooth and effortless
The hoot when in full beans mode (Sports combining all power and wheels)
The noise in above, although slightly synthetic is still glorious
Comfort and toys
Looks still stunning, not ageing at all
Getting stared at!
Conversations people have with you
Economy (my weekly commute is largely petrol free and is costing roughly £8 a week in electrickery)

In the year it’s had a service in January (no cost as it should have been done when I picked up the car in December)
New Auxilliary heater (no cost- warranty)
MOT last week (no cost, don’t know why, didn’t question it!)
2 x new rear (front) tyres @ £140/each - they were 2mm and 3mm , 5mm when I got the car
2 x new front (rear) tyres @ £170/each- still have 3.5mm but changing anyway due to my own schoolboy error ordering from Oponeo!
I will extend the warranty after a lot of thought- apart from the Aux heater it’s been faultless but there is much to go wrong potentially and with this kind of car it’s just not worth the hassle
I’ve done 6299 miles in the year

Coming services:-
Brake fluid change March 2020
Engine Oil Feb 2021
Vehicle check Feb 2023 (I may not have the car then, my plans are that way anyway...)

Overall been really really happy with the car, apart from the daily commute it’s had a trip or 2 up to Scotland , Hull, Norfolk...
It’s had 2 x tame trackdays (Charity events)
Various “dream ride” events where it has earned close on 1k for various nominated charities with Sporting Bears....
I’m signed up to do more next year including the Classic Car show at the NEC in March so come and say hello at the dream rides section if you come along..

Summarising , would I recommend one- yes for sure if you have a similar travel profile to my own or want a second ‘super’ car. It won’t suit those with long commutes and high annual mileage in my opinion

I’ll update if there is anything to say over 2020, otherwise an annual summary December next year
