Hi

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I was trying to top up screen wash but as I tried to open the bonnet with the lever that pops out after the bonnet is released from the inside, it snapped off.

The lever that releases the bonnet on the inside of the car is working fine, but it's the little lever that pops out at the front of the car after the bonnet has been semi-released that snapped off. So I can pop the bonnet, but I can't open it as the lever is not there.

Does any one have any idea on the cost of fixing this?

I did some research and some websites say that they would have to dismantle the front of the car. That would be annoying, all for the sake of a little plastic lever that's snapped. But I am not sure if those websites were talking about something else.

Thanks

EDIT: 2007 c class coupe

The front grill comes off by removing the 4 little bolts on the top of the grill, the push the bottom inwards where it is just clipped onto the bumper and its off.

The same thing happened to my son in law, I just put a hook on a piece of strong wire and pushed it through the grill to release the catch.

Thanks for the replies. I think in my research I was seeing answers for the problem of the release cord snapping or something.

But for replacing the snapped lever, I took it to the local Mercedes work shop and it is about £30 all in to replace in case anyone else wants to know.

I thought something like that would work but seeing as I don't know much about cars, thought it best to let the professionals sort it!
